About
Hi, I’m Dan Bowhay, a photographer, artist, and all-around creative person. Based in Hampshire, I’ve been studying photography since secondary school, and hold a BA (Hons) in Photography from Arts University Bournemouth.
My passion for photographing events comes from my background in the arts. I have created and brought to fruition many a creative project, so I understand how passion is the driving force behind bringing events and performances to life. It’s the ability to use photography to showcase this passion that I love the most. I thrive on being able to bring out the energy, excitement, and emotions through my photographs.
I generally like to work in the background. Performers can focus on what they do best, attendees can feel at ease, and I can focus on achieving the greatest possible photos. Candid photos are at the heart of what I do best, capturing those genuine movements, but I also love to capture wider photos that showcase the atmosphere, and whilst I do work in the background, I'll step in and direct when needed.
I’m based in the south of England and I’ve photographed events and performances in Hampshire, Dorset, and beyond, and covered genres including dance, pageantry, and arts and cultural events. I’ve also photographed actors, and worked, capturing stills, on many film sets (where I mastered the art of working in the shadows and tiptoeing around).
Regardless of the exact genre, showcasing the passion behind what you are creating is what I care about the most. Please get in touch. I would love to hear about what you are working on and discuss how I can best capture it.

I come from a background in fine arts photography, so I have a strong intuition as to what makes an aesthetically pleasing photo. When presented with candid moments, I can apply this to quickly capture these moments pleasingly before they’re gone.

I am also an experienced drummer, enabling me to follow the beat or spot patterns in performances, and allowing me to predict what might be coming next, and capture it at just the right moment.

I work with the latest high-end professional mirrorless Nikon cameras and lenses. These cameras have impressive image sensors and processors, which, in combination with high-end lenses, allow me to work in challenging and low-light environments whilst creating sharp images, free of motion blur and with next to no noise or grain.

Each event has its own requirements, and as such, it’s not realistic to list ‘one size fits all’ packages. Once I know a little about your event, your coverage, and photo delivery requirements, I can offer you a realistic, competitive quote.
Furthermore, for events with contestants or performers, paid photo packages can be offered to help reduce your costs as the organizer.
-
I use a secure online gallery platform that allows you to easily view and download your photographs on your computer or phone. Depending on your requirements, this can either remain private and just accessible by you, or be shared with a team, or even with larger groups.
For events with contestants or large numbers of performers, galleries with facial recognition can be offered, enabling gallery viewers to upload a selfie and find themselves within individual and group shots.
-
Depending on your event and your requirements, I can offer time frames that suit you. Typically, this can be within 2-4 days, but for smaller or time-critical events, we can discuss faster turnaround times within 24-48 hours, or even uploading some images during the event (schedule and network availability permitting).
To keep the excitement going between the event and photos being available, gallery pre-registration can be offered, enabling recipients of the gallery to be notified as soon as photographs are available.

Head over to my contact page and drop me a message with a few details about your event. We can then arrange a time to chat through the finer details, discuss what I can offer, and go from there.
